Honda Aircraft LLC – 2014 to 2020 – Senior Project Engineer, Greensboro, NC

Increased company profitability through successful cross division planning and execution of cross functional improvement programs

  • Slashed aircraft cost by over $500,000, boosting company profitability via the aircraft cost reduction program I planned and managed.  Program used iterative planning methods and prioritized product backlogs to maximize value of cost savings.
  • Reduced manufacturing time and inventory expenses by identifying and resolving process deficiencies that allowed known bad parts to be returned to inventory. Applied Lean principles with a cross functional team to identify and correct gaps in the processes that allowed suspect parts to remain in inventory.  Integrated the process changes into a software based integrated solution over three enterprise level platforms (SAP, Salesforce, and TeamCenter).
  • Saved over $500,000 by salvaging a damaged fuselage.  Led a special project team with the charter to identify root cause and provide repair instructions for a damaged composite fuselage in less than a week.  Project was successful, allowing the production rate to be maintained.

Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation – 2006 to 2014 – Custom Engineering Project Engineer, Appleton WI

Improved customer service and increased profitability by leading large engineering product development efforts and cross functional process improvement projects.

  • Enhanced morale and profitability by building a team culture from the previously non-collaborative functional groups.  The new culture provided a more controlled and efficient design process, and reduced both engineering delivery delays and overtime requirements. Implemented a framework for improving cooperation, coordination and trust between Engineering and Operations Departments, reducing cycle times and achieving a nearly flawless on time delivery record.
  • Improved customer satisfaction by leading special projects teams to quickly resolve serious customer or regulatory issues.
  • Reduced cost and wait times by successfully implemented a Lean culture approach to both Custom Engineering Department as well as Custom Manufacturing Department.

James Madison University 2003 to 2006 – Research Faculty, Harrisonburg VA

Successfully turned around a failing software development program for a ‘disaster risk abatement’ modeling tool. Managed software development team of 7 software developers and 3 test technicians. Took over program when it was more than a year behind schedule and in risk of default.

Luna Innovations, Inc. 2001 to 2003 – Director of Charlottesville Office, Charlottesville, VA

Started up the Charlottesville Office and built it to 14 employees and $5.5 million in revenue in 3 years.   Enhanced revenue stream by building the aerospace business market.  Developed and spun off Luna Medical.
